Quite a Day…
January 21, 2009
Today was the day most people in America were waiting. The inauguration of Barack Obama marks the beginning of a new America. President Obama is the symbol of CHANGE and it can’t come soon enough. After eight years of any president, it’s time to push forward and try new things. Obama has the power to do those things.
However, as I was walking home from class I couldn’t help but overhear three very loudly students talking about the possibility of his failure. One guy in particular said people see Obama as a “messiah.” I can’t help but to hope that people realize CHANGE takes time. If people are looking for a quick fix, then yes disappointment will run high in the country, but hopefully people will let him do his job successfully. I will support Obama through the long haul of failed programs and longer time lines because I believe in CHANGE and the possibility of a different American lifestyle.
As I watched the inauguration, I couldn’t help but crave to be on the public relations team that set up the amazing event. I never thought about working in politics, but after watching the expertise of planning set forth for the inauguration it could be a possibility. The 10 balls set for tonight must have take months of planning, but how amazing to say, “Yeah, I did that… for the President of the United State!” Even the parade was organized incredibly, and I can only imagine the setup for the security. All taken care of by PR professionals. Amazing!
This was my first real experience of the inauguration day. I’ve never been so proud of my country. It is really awesome to know that I voted for a man that will hopefully CHANGE the United States into something more effective.
It was quite a day and quite an unbelievable experience even if I only sat on my couch with my favorite fuzzy blanket.
